I've played it. The amazing thing is these are actual gameplay shots. It's a beautiful setting but for me the monthly fee is a definite down side. I think you can still get a 14 day free trial if you visit their site. www.eve-online.com

It's a beautiful game, and this is actually a trailer from the last 'expansion'...the new expansion is just around the corner. When it is fully released (it's being done in three stages), the game will actually be even better looking.

It's horribly complicated, and most of the in-game content is player-driven. If you can deal with that, though...it's a great game, and the only MMO I feel is worth paying for ATM. Many people will debate that, though, I'm sure.

Yeah I played it for about 9 months, it was amazing, better than any other mmo in my books.
But I can't afford the time that mmo's require, even tho with EVE you can come and go whenever you want unlike wow etc.

I played the free trial for a bit. Spent countless hours mining rocks. Pretty to look at graphics but not much variety in them. It's more about economy than combat, but it's interesting. I love space games, but this one was kinda boring. I like X3 better.

I think if you really get in to it, it is simply far far above any other game. However, it's a bitch to get into. I've tried several times. A gaming magazine here (PC Zone I think) had an article about a year back about a power struggle in the game and at least for gamers, it was absolutely astounding reading. The political backstabbing, secret deals and assassinations read like top quality novel, except it actually happened in the game world, without any cheating. Comparing these events to what you can do in great games like The Sims 2, Oblivion, Pro Evo Soccer 6, Half Life 2 ... it's just a completely different level of gaming. As I said, a damn hard level to get yourself at, but if this game clicks, I think it would be heaven.

Oh yes - the graphics in the trailer ain't shit, to be honest. To see the game full screen on a large monitor, it is jaw droppingly beautiful. I haven't played it for about a year but it was certainly much better looking than X2 and probably better looking than X3 even if it has been around for a lot longer. Amazing.
